Looks like a warm day this Saturday for skiing. Plan to dress accordingly so your little ones don't get over heated but have dry warm hands and feet.
Also, check out http://www.skitigers.com/equipment-basics.html for some basics and pointers on ski equipment. One thing to remember on warm days like this weekend, is no-wax skis actually still need wax on the glide surfaces to prevent the snow from packing up. The local shops sell some products called quick wax that are great for keeping your kids skis gliding smoothly. See you on the trails. Kevin The Barnelopet ski race is this weekend at Maasto Hiihto Trails in Hancock this Sunday with registration at 1pm and races starting at 2pm. This is a great event for the kids from 3 to 17 to enjoy a great skiing event in the area. Below is a link to the website for more details and I hope everyone can get out and support our local trail systems and participate. Also, no racing experience needed as it is just a fun event for the kids and everyone gets a amazing medal and cookies. http://keweenawnordic.org/barnelopet/ Kevin The weather is looking great for the 1st weekend of Ski Tigers.
The 1st Youth Program event for this season is on Saturday January 2nd at the Swedetown Ski Trails in Calumet at 11:00am. Be ready to ski at 11:00am so we can get started and the kiddos & parents aren't standing around in the cold. Check out the calendar for more details on the rest of the season and Trail Maps for directions to all the trail heads. Kilometer Club Also, right now is a great time to get started recording all the kilometers your skiers put on this year and we'll reward them at the end of season picnic in the snow. Check out Kilometer Club for more details and how to track your kilometers online at http://www.kmtracker.org/. 2016 US Cross Country Championship There is also a great opportunity to see world class skiers right here in the Copper Country with the 2016 US Cross Country Championship on Jan 3-9 at the Tech Trails. Equipment If you are still looking for equipment, please review the Equipment Basics page contact Jon Stone ([email protected]) as Ski Tigers has some equipment available for skiers.
